Guy Ritchie Casts Theo James in THE GENTLEMEN Netflix Series
Theo James (Divergent, The Time Traveler’s Wife, The White Lotus) is set to take on the lead role of Netflix’s The Gentlemen, which is based on the Guy Ritchie film of the same name.
James will play a character named Eddie Halstead, a character “who has inherited his father’s sizeable estate only to discover that it’s sitting on top of a weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson. Has this straight-up soldier got what it takes to master the dark arts of the British criminal underworld and take control of the entire operation?”
Ritchie is executive producing the series, he co-wrote the pilot script, and he’ll direct the first two episodes of the show. Miramax TV is producing and it begins production in London next week.
I loved the original film which followed Mickey Pearson, “an American expatriate who became rich by building a highly profitable marijuana empire in London. When word gets out that he's looking to cash out of the business, it soon triggers an array of plots and schemes -- including bribery and blackmail -- from shady characters who want to steal his domain.”
The film has an awesome cast including Charlie Hunnam, Matthew McConaughey, Colin Ferrell, Henry Golding, Hugh Grant, Michelle Dockery, and more. If you haven’t watched the film yet, you’ve got to see it! It’s a great movie! I hope this new series ends up being just as good and entertaining.
