Guy Ritchie Set To Direct Disney's Live-Action HERCULES Movie
Aladdin director Guy Ritchie is jumping on board another Disney film project. He is set to direct the studio’s live-action film adaptation of Hercules.
The film will be produced by AGBO, which is the production company run by Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The studio previously had Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi) working on the script, but they are in the process of hiring other writers to work on it further.
In the film, “Hercules, a son of gods, was snatched as a baby by Hades and forced to live among mortals as a half-man, half-god. Now a teenager, Hercules needs to perform a rite of passage on Earth to prove himself worthy of living with the gods on Mount Olympus. With his plucky satyr sidekick, Philoctetes, along for the ride, Hercules must learn how to use his strength to defeat a series of evil creatures.”
Ritchie is a great director that has made some incredibly fun films. While Aladdin isn’t his best work, it was a good film compared to the other live-action movies that Disney has produced based on their animated properties. The film also broke a billion dollars at the box office, which makes it his most successful film.
Of course, Ritchie is going to join the Disney party again! He’s got the opportunity to make the big Disney bucks. I’ve been a fan of Ritchie ever since Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. He’s come a long way as a filmmaker since then.
Some of his more recent films include Wrath of Man, The Gentleman, and his next movie will be Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre.
What do you think about Guy Ritchie taking on Hercules? Who would you like to see cast in the lead role? It’ll probably be Chris Hemsworth.
