Guy Ritchie Will Return To Direct Disney's ALADDIN Sequel
It was recently announced that Disney is moving forward with a sequel to their live-action Aladdin film, which was a huge billion-dollar hit for the studio. John Gatins (Flight, Power Rangers) and Andrea Berloff (The Kitchen, Straight Outta Compton) were hired to write the script, but in the first initial report, it was unknown if Guy Ritchie would return to helm the film. Well, according to THR, he’ll be back!
Ritchie ended up making a great Aladdin movie that I actually enjoyed, so it’s good to hear that he’s coming back! The filmmaker’s most recent film to hit theaters was The Gentlemen, which I really liked! That was a fun movie! I enjoy Ritchie’s style and I would love to see Ritchie make a hardcore R-rated Aladdin movie, but we all know that’s not going to happen. But, hopefully, he ends up delivering solid sequel.
We still don’t know what the story for the film will be, but it will not be an adaptation of the direct-to-video Aladdin sequel. We also still don’t know if stars Will Smith, Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott will return to reprise their roles, but I’m pretty sure they will. Offers won’t be extended to the cast until the script is ready.
Are you happy to learn that Guy Ritchie will be back to direct the Aladdin sequel?
