Gwyneth Paltrow Drops Tiny Spoiler for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
Gwyneth Paltrow was recently on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Stephen Colbert dragged out a small spoiler from her in regard to Avengers: Infinity War. If you don't care about anything besides the stuff for Infinity War, that starts at the 8:43 mark. First, I was a little surprised when I first heard that she’d actually be in the film. Her character, Pepper Potts, has not been in either of the previous Avengers movies so this is a first! Some people may not have been surprised at this, but I was. Second, Paltrow was talking about how secretive everything is regarding Infinity War when Colbert does a little digging and asks if she has any powers in the film. This is due to the bigger role Pepper played in Iron Man 3 with temporary fire powers. She starts to waffle a bit but then is asked if she ever extended her hand towards anyone in a suit covered in blue ping pong balls. She answers in the affirmative which leads Colbert and many of us nerds to conclude that she does have powers of some nature in the film.
This creates a new question though, what kind of powers? At the end of Iron Man 3, Pepper undergoes the procedure to undo all of the horrible fire stuff that was done to her. Did any of that stay? I think many of us will agree that the prevailing theory is that she will don a suit similar to Iron Man’s in this upcoming fight of all fights. This wouldn’t be crazy since in the comics she does use the Rescue Armor. So, has Pepper become Rescue between films, which has been rumored due to a photo she posted on social media, or will we see the birth of Rescue during the film?
