Gwyneth Paltrow Hints That She May Return to the MCU as Pepper Potts

Gwyneth Paltrow has been a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the very first film, Iron Man, back in 2008. She plays the character Pepper Potts, right hand gal to Tony Stark/Iron Man, and eventually his wife.

She sees him through to his final performance in Avengers: Endgame (2019), where he sacrificed himself to save the world, and that was her last appearance as well. Paltrow’s name has not shown up in any of the cast roll outs for the upcoming event film Avengers: Doomsday, but the actress recently hinted that a return may be on the horizon.

During a recent appearance at Paltrow’s son’s college, Brown University, she was asked to speak about her career and creativity, which she did, and when the conversation was opened up to the audience for a Q&A, someone asked if Paltrow might return to the MCU. She concisely replied, “I might be in another Marvel movie.”

I think this is a pretty good indicator that we will see Pepper Potts again. It would be awesome to see her in the upcoming Avengers movies, reuniting with Robert Downey Jr., but this time not as Tony Stark, but the villainous Doctor Doom.

It has already been said that the other returning characters in the film will not recognize Downey as a variant of Tony Stark, but it would be especially weird to see Pepper sidestep that connection. We will just have to wait and see how it all pans out.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, 2026.
