Gwyneth Paltrow is Shocked by Her Own Marvel Resume: “That Can’t Be Right”

Gwyneth Paltrow might have been a big part of MCU’s The Infinity Saga, but even she can’t believe how many Marvel movies that she’s appeared in.

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Paltrow, who plays Pepper Potts, was informed that she has appeared in seven MCU films: Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, The Avengers, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Her reaction was pure disbelief.

"That can't be right," she said. "I can't have been in seven. Is that true?"

This isn’t the first time Paltrow has been caught off guard by her Marvel involvement. Fans will remember the now-infamous moment when she completely forgot she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming. She explained why in the interview, shedding light on Marvel’s notoriously secretive approach to filmmaking.

"They think they're the CIA or something over there, that it's like national secrets," she joked. "Like, who's doing what – that's why I didn't know I was in Spider-Man. They never said. There were no signs that said Spider-Man. The script didn't say Spider-Man. It's all a secret."

That level of secrecy is something Marvel is known for, but it clearly has its side effects for the actors who are actually in the movies.

Meanwhile, the Marvel machine keeps rolling. Thunderbolts* is up next, and Daredevil: Born Again continues its run on Disney+. We’ve also got The Fantastic Four: First Steps coming laters this year.

There’s no official word on if we will ever see Paltrow return to the MCU, but there are rumors that she might. If she does, she’ll eventually just forget about it.
