Gwyneth Paltrow Says She's Retiring from the Marvel Cinematic Universe

It looks like Gwyneth Paltrow’s time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has come to an end. I assumed that Avengers: Endgame would be the last time that we see a few of these longtime Marvel characters in the MCU. After that, who knows what the future holds for some of these characters.

Well, Gwyneth Paltrow has officially announced that she will be retiring from the MCU. She was cast in the role of Pepper Potts over ten years ago and has been on the Marvel ride ever since. This is the first actor from the MCU to officially say goodbye, and while talking to Variety, she said:

“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point. I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with [Iron Man director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to fans.”

Of course, the actress added that she would be willing to come back for a cameo if she was asked:

“I feel honored to be a part of something that people are so passionate about. Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?,’ I will always be there if they need me.”

So, there’s still a chance we could see her again in a very small role if Marvel wanted her to. That just tells us that even though she’s looking to leave the MCU behind her, she still has a love and admiration for Pepper Potts and the MCU.

Pepper Potts has shown up in six Marvel movies including all three Iron Man films, The AvengersSpider-Man: Homecoming, and Avengers: Infinity War. She is also set to appear in Avengers: Endgame this summer.

Are you sad to see Paltrow exit the MCU as Pepper Potts? Who do you think will be the next MCU action star to announce their retirement?
