Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP Developing a Series For Netflix Based Around Beauty and Wellness

Gwyneth Paltrow has signed on with Netflix to bring about a 30-minute docuseries with content from her lifestyle company, blog and podcast, GOOP.

The series is said to be based around beauty, food, books, and products that all have to do with mental, physical, and sexual wellness. Paltrow will host the series alongside her chief content officer Elise Loehnen, who said the pair, alongside their team, will consult doctors, experts and researchers to bring the best content to the show.

Here’s what Loehnen had to say to Variety about teaming up with Netflix: “We were speaking to the platform question, and where our people are. They’re watching Netflix. Some of the more strategic, bigger stories we want to tell require a TV budget. Obviously, there’s no better partner in that.”

I think that with the recent success of Netflix’s Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, there could totally be a market for this type of thing. Not that it’s the same content, but it’s similarly about self-improvement and lifestyle.

I think there is a market for this type of series, but I do think there’s a fine line to walk for Paltrow and her GOOP staff. Paltrow has been accused of being out of touch with the average woman, and even out of touch with reality. But as long as she can stay away from suggesting we steam our lady parts, rent a “surprisingly affordable” yacht, or buy $15,000 gold-plated sex toys, she may just have a hit.

Does this sound like the kind of show you might want to watch?
