Hailee Steinfeld Considered for Role in The TRANSFORMERS Spinoff Film BUMBLEBEE

Paramount is making moves in hopes to keep the Transformers franchise alive after Michael Bay steps away. Bumblebee is the first spin-off from the movies and will focus on everyone's favorite yellow autobot. Bumblebee will be directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) and the studio is in talks with Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld to star.

Not much is known yet about the plot of the movie but the Hollywood Reporter says Steinfeld will play "a tomboy who also holds a job as a mechanic after school."

The studio hopes Bumblebee will be the first spinoff of many in a Transformers Cinematic Universe that will include prequels and offshoots from the current line of films that include Transformers: The Last Knight which arrives in theaters on June 23. Bay previously confirmed that the spinoff would be a prequel and said:

"It'll go a little younger, and it will deal more with his character and it's just about him."

Now that every studio appears to have a few franchises that use the cinematic universe model it really doesn't come as a surprise that Paramount try to do the same with Transformers. Do you like the idea of there being more spinoff movies in this franchise? Or have you had it with "robots in disguise?"

Bumblebee is set to hit theaters on June 8, 2018.
