Hailee Steinfeld Offered Role of Kate Bishop in Marvel's HAWKEYE Series
It looks like Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee) could be joining the Marvel family! Variety is reporting that the actress has been offered one of the big lead roles in Marvel’s upcoming Hawkeye series, and if she takes the gig she will be taking on the role of Kate Bishop!
The series was officially announced at Comic-Con this year, and Steinfeld would star alongside Jeremy Renner, who is set to reprise his role as Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, a.k.a. Ronin. Barton will be training Bishop in the series.
Steinfeld is a very talented young actress, and I think she’s a great choice to take on this character. She’s got the look, the style, and the acting chops to pull it off. Starring in the series would be a long-term investment for Steinfeld. After they introduce her to the MCU and set her up in this series, I’m sure Marvel has plans for the character in future films like the rumored Young Avengers and possible spinoff shows.
Kate Bishop doesn’t have any superhuman abilities. But Hawkeye does train her to become a badass warrior, and she has a high level of skill in archery, sword fighting, and unarmed combat. Kate also possesses a significant stock of fighting weapons.
The series is set to be released in fall 2021 on Disney+ as part of Marvel’s Phase Four round of releases. All of the Marvel shows that are being produced will tie directly into the MCU movies, and they are being produced by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Mad Men scribe Jonathan Igla is writing the series.
