Halle Berry has proved that she can kick some ass and she most recently showed off some impressive fighting skills in John Wick: Chapter 3. Well, she is going to do some more brutal fighting in the upcoming Netflix film Bruised, which she stars in and directs. The trailer was recently released for this sports-drama and it looks really good.

Berry plays a former MMA fighter, who is having a rough go at life and an opportunity presents itself to get back in the world of MMA, which helps in her efforts to get her life back together. The synopsis reads:

Jackie Justice (Berry) is a mixed martial arts fighter who leaves the sport in disgrace. Down on her luck and simmering with rage and regret years after her fight, she's coaxed into a brutal underground fight by her manager and boyfriend Desi (Adan Canto) and grabs the attention of a fight league promoter (Shamier Anderson) who promises Jackie a life back in the octagon. But the road to redemption becomes unexpectedly personal when Manny (Danny Boyd, Jr.) — the son she gave up as an infant — shows up at her doorstep.

Bruised marks the directorial debut of Berry and it looks like she’s made a solid film that’s described as a “triumphant story of a fighter who reclaims her power, in and out of the ring, when everyone has counted her out.” The movie also stars Adriane Lenox, Sheila Atim, Valentina Shevchenko, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.

Bruised opens in select theaters on November 17, 2021, before heading to Netflix on November 24, 2021.
