Halle Berry Set To Star in Alexandre Aja-Directed Thriller MOTHER LAND

Halle Berry (John Wick: Chapter 3) is set to star in a new thriller being directed by Alexandre Aja (Crawl, High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes) titled Mother Land.

The film tells the story of “a mother and her twin sons who have been tormented by an evil spirit for years. When one of the boys questions whether the evil is real, the family’s sacred bond is broken, and it becomes a fight for survival.”

That sounds like a wicked horror story and one that is going to perfectly fit Aja’s awesome horror filmmaking style. I’ve enjoyed the films that Aja has made over the years and I dig his dark and fun storytelling style. This also seems like another great project for Berry, who recently starred in and directed Bruised and she’s in post-production on the Netflix movie The Mothership.

The movie is being produced by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, The Adam Project), Dan Cohen and Dan Levine. The film is expected to go into production next year.

Lionsgate’s Production President Erin Westerman said in a statement: “We’re so thrilled to be working again with Halle and Alex. Halle is a force on screen – she’s the perfect person to convey the psychological terror of this mother trying to protect her family. And who better than Alex to ratchet up the tension. Powerhouse producers 21 Laps are going to deliver an elevated thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seat.”

I’ll be looking forward to seeing how this project turns out! I also enjoy a good horror thriller!
