HALLOWEEN Gameplay Trailer Takes Us Back To Haddonfield and Gives Michael Myers a Supernatural Ability

One of the most exciting reveals out of Gamescom last month was the announcement that a brand-new video game based on John Carpenter’s Halloween franchise is on the way.

Now we’ve got a fresh gameplay trailer that not only takes us back to Haddonfield but also gives Michael Myers a chilling new supernatural power.

The upcoming title, Halloween: The Game, is executive produced by none other than John Carpenter himself and is being designed as an asymmetric stealth horror experience that “immerses players in the terrifying events of John Carpenter’s 1978 movie.”

To make things even more authentic, Myers will be brought to life through motion capture by the original Shape, Nick Castle.

Players will have the choice to either step into the shoes of Haddonfield residents trying to survive the night or embrace the darkness as Myers himself. The official description reads:

"Step into the chilling world of John Carpenter’s genre-defining film, now transformed into a suspenseful one-versus-many stealth horror experience. Put on the iconic mask to become the ultimate slasher, Michael Myers, stalking and executing the citizens of Haddonfield one by one, or striving to thwart Michael Myers’ plans as Civilians determined to save the unaware townsfolk before it’s too late.

“Stick to the shadows as Civilians, seeking out Haddonfield residents to warn them and searching for a way to contact the authorities. As Michael Myers, give them a reason to fear the dark and cut the phone lines to prevent the police from ruining his favorite holiday.

“Whether playing solo in story mode, against bots offline, or facing others in online multiplayer, each mode rewards stealth, strategy, and skillful play."

The newly released trailer shows gameplay from both perspectives, giving us a peek at how Haddonfield’s citizens can temporarily take down Myers, even if the Boogeyman can never truly be stopped.

The big reveal here is Myers’ new stealth ability known as “Shape-Jumping,” which allows him to evade detection while closing in on his victims.

Jared Gerritzen, CCO of IllFonic, explained the team’s vision: “Our goal is to push the horror experience to the next level with single and multiplayer modes so players can get the most out of the game. Whether they become the boogeyman or fight to protect Michael Myers’ victims, Halloween promises an unforgettable battle of fear and survival.”

With single-player and multiplayer options, immersive gameplay, and a terrifying new ability for Myers, Halloween: The Game looks like it’s shaping up to be the ultimate slasher video game experience.

The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on September 8, 2026.
