HALO INFINITE Multiplayer Beta Launches Early
To celebrate 20 years of Halo, Xbox has announced that the anticipated multiplayer Halo Infinite has launched an early beta and is available to play now. This is designed to be a way to make sure that everything is good to go for the official launch on December 8, so you may experience bumps and bugs in the beta. But, it does mark the official start of Halo Infinite Season 1, with all day-one maps and modes enabled as well as the full Season 1 Battle Pass. This means all the Battle Pass and customization items you earn or purchase during the beta will stay with you after December 8th.
They have also announced that Season 1 has been extended to last until May 2022. While the original plan was to release a new season every three months, the developers wanted to give themselves more time to make a truly great Season 2 rather than just send out a rush job. This is great news for everyone as it will help ensure a healthier workplace for the entire team and should help make sure we get an even better gaming experience.
But don’t think they are just being lazy with Season 1 yet. They took this opportunity to add additional events, customization items and other content to Season 1 to make it an even richer experience from start to finish. For example, starting today and through the first week, you can log-in to Halo Infinite to unlock a free collection of 20th anniversary themed cosmetics. Following this free reward period, the start of their Season 1 opening event, “Fracture: Tenrai”, will kick off on November 23. This will be your first of multiple opportunities to earn Season 1’s samurai-themed armor pieces and other customization items.
Watch for more announcements after the holidays in January for updates about Season 1 events and the Season 2 campaign and release plans. You can read the full announcement and more extensively about Halo Infinite here.
