HAMILTON May Come to the Big Screen in a Few Years

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past 3 years or so, you have undoubtedly heard of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton. The hip-hop musical biography of Alexander Hamilton has been crazy popular and is now putting Hollywood into a bidding war.

Wall Street Journel reports that the major players in Hollywood are currently fighting over the rights to put out a live performance of the play with the original cast from 2016. They report that “Sellers are asking that the Hamilton recording not play in theaters, or stream, until 2020 or 2021…” This would give the play a couple more years of being available only on the stage.

For years my wife and I have talked about how more plays should do this because it would make bank and allow people who can’t go to the theaters and drop hundreds of dollars on tickets. Of course, I imagine that in about 5-10 years we’ll get a movie adaptation of the show.

Are you excited to see Hamilton in the movie theater?
