HAN SOLO Standalone Film Will Be Lawrence Kasdan’s Final STAR WARS Project

As many of you already know, Lawrence Kasdan played a huge part in shaping the Star Wars universe. He co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back and The Return Of The Jedi and came back to help J.J. Abrams write Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He’s currently working on the Han Solo standalone movie with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and it seems like that film might be the last time that he dives into the Star Wars universe.

During an interview with German paper Bild, Kasdan said this will be his last contribution to the saga, claiming that writing four Star Wars movies is "more than enough". Here are a few bits from the interview that were translated from German via The Super Naughts:

“This is my last film for this saga. […]
I did not even want to do this last one anymore, but my family loved the idea. […]
I did four Star Wars movies. That’s more than enough. […]
I want to work as director again. […]”

It’s interesting that he says he wasn’t really into doing this Han Solo movie, but it certainly sounds like he’s finished with Star Wars and wants to move on. His family did play a huge part in him taking the job, after all, he is co-writing the film with his son Jon, so it’s like a father and son project, which is kinda cool. He will pass the torch to a new generation of family to continue his legacy.

As for him choosing to get back into directing, I totally support that. You gotta go do the things that make you happy. Kasdan has made some solid films in his career. One of my favorite things that he’s done, though, is the big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s Dreamcatcher. I’d like to see him do something fun like that again.

Han Solo's untitled A Star Wars Story film will hit theaters May 25th, 2018.
