Hannah John-Kamen Reportedly Offered the Role of Jill Valentine in RESIDENT EVIL Reboot
Screen Gems is in the process of developing a reboot of the Resident Evil franchise, and it is said to stick a lot closer to the video game franchise than the previous films. One thing that the new movie will do is incorporate several fan-favorite characters from the horror game series, and one of those characters is Jill Valentine.
According to The Illuminderdi, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and The Wasp, The Stranger, Ready Player One) has been offered the role of Valentine in the film. The version of the character is described as "a small town girl that enjoys hunting with the guys. She is gorgeous yet tough, and she knows how to have a good time."
It’s said that Screen Gems is keeping the casting open to all ethnicities, but they will be "focusing on casting an African-American with mixed heritage for the role." So, if John-Kamen passes on the role, they will still be looking to cast that type of actress in the role.
The report also confirms that The Maze Runner actress Kaya Scodelario has been offered the role of Claire Redfield and that she is currently in negotiations. The characters Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy, and Albert Wesker will also appear in the reboot, but there’s no information on who will be playing the characters.
Resident Evil will be directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down), who is also co-writing the script with Greg Russo.
What do you think about Hannah John-Kamen possibly taking on the role of Jill Valentine? What are your thoughts on the new Resident Evil reboot in general?
