Hans Zimmer to Compose Original Score for HBO’s HARRY POTTER Series With Bleeding Fingers Music

HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter television series just locked in a huge creative win. Hans Zimmer and his music company Bleeding Fingers Music are officially on board to compose the show’s original score, setting the musical foundation for the Wizarding World’s next major chapter on television.

The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027 and will adapt each of J.K. Rowling’s seven novels into its own full season. Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows will get the long-form storytelling treatment.

Zimmer will be working alongside Bleeding Fingers composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman, and the team understands exactly what kind of legacy they’re stepping into. In a joint statement, they shared:

“The musical legacy of ‘Harry Potter’ is a touch point for composers everywhere and we are humbled to join such a remarkable team on a project of this magnitude,” said Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman.

“The responsibility is something that myself, Kara Talve and Anže Rozman do not take lightly. Magic is all around us, often just beyond reach, but as in the world of Harry Potter, you simply must look for it. With this score we hope to bring audiences that little bit closer to it whilst honoring what has come before.”

The original film scores are iconic, with music from John Williams, Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper, and Alexandre Desplat shaping entire generations of fans. The HBO series plans to respect that history while carving out a new identity designed specifically for prestige television.

Bleeding Fingers Music has been expanding steadily for years, and later this year the collective will open a new London office as it continues to grow its global footprint. Zimmer himself is staying busy. He’s currently Oscar shortlisted for his work on F1, and audiences will also hear his music later this year in HBO’s Euphoria and Dune: Part Three.

Dominic McLaughlin has been cast as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout steps into the role of Ron Weasley. All three are largely newcomers.

The adult cast brings plenty of experience, with John Lithgow set to play Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu taking on Severus Snape, and Janet McTeer cast as Professor McGonagall.

With Zimmer’s unmistakable sound guiding the emotional spine of the series, HBO’s Harry Potter adaptation is shaping up to feel both familiar and new. If the music lands the way fans hope, it could redefine how this world sounds for an entirely new generation.
