HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U Director Says He Has a "Bonkers" Idea for a Third Film
The concept behind Happy Death Day is already pretty bonkers, so when the director of the first two films, Christopher Landon, says he has an idea for third film that is “more bonkers” than the first two, I can’t help but be a little excited. He told CinemaBlend:
“I do have the idea for the third one. And I really hope that people go see this one so that I can make it. Because it’s bonkers. … This one’s more bonkers. But it fits!”
I haven’t even seen Happy Death Day 2U yet, but judging from the trailers and plot details, it looks extremely fun and a little crazier than the first one. Producer Jason Blum went on to talk about the upcoming sequel and explains that one of the reasons it works so well is because it’s not a straight rehash of the first movie, and it tries to be something totally different than most sequels and that’s what they are hoping to do with the third film as well:
“This is the best example of how to make a successful sequel, you have to feel the DNA of the first movie, but it can’t feel like a repeat. … I was really passionate about this, because of what you’re saying. Because, in a franchise, to have two different genres – maybe we’ll get a third genre in the third movie? And that really hasn’t happened before.”
Happy Death Day 2U comes out today, February 13th, and in it we see that Tree is once again trapped in her time loop and she’s not very happy about that.
Do you hope to see this bonkers third Happy Death Day movie get made?
