HAPPY DEATH DAY Actress Jessica Rothe is Confident We'll See a Third Movie One Day
The Happy Death Day films have been a ton of fun to watch as they have been funny, thrilling, and mind-bending. Writer and director Christopher Landon has expressed his interest in making a third film and I know the fans would love to see where the crazy-ass story goes next. We just don’t know if we will get another sequel.
When previously asked about the possibility of another sequel, Blumhouse studio chief Jason Blum said, “Not very but not impossible.” Which is a shame to hear, but star Jessica Rothe, is holding our for hope and she is confident that one day we will see Happy Death Day 3 get made:
“I would love if we had the opportunity to complete the trilogy. I know that Chris has it all mapped out in his genius brain, but I also know that we only want to complete it if we get to do it right.
“I think it’s just a question of seeing if the opportunity for that exists in the world. But the funny thing is I have a feeling whether it’s now or in five years or ten or twenty, if we pull a Jamie Lee Curtis from Halloween and Tree comes back as a badass 50-year-old, I know that we will get to tell the rest of the story. I love Tree, I love that character so much and I feel very, very grateful to have been a part of that.”
I hope we don’t have to wait that long! Landon previously said that he has an idea for a third film that is “more bonkers” than the first two. He explained:
“I do have the idea for the third one. And I really hope that people go see this one so that I can make it. Because it’s bonkers. … This one’s more bonkers. But it fits!”
Unfortunately, the sequel didn’t do as well at the box office as the first one, but it was a hit with critics and fans. We’ll just have to wait and see if Blumhouse ever decided to move forward with a third. Would you be interested in seeing the story continue?
