Harrison Ford on The Future of the INDIANA JONES - "When I'm Gone, He's Gone."
We’ve never known Harrison Ford to shy away from his feelings, so his reaction in this interview is no surprise, but it’s pretty funny. While appearing on the Today show this past week while doing press for his upcoming animated film, The Secret Life of Pets 2, Ford was asked his opinion on who he would like to see play the next Indiana Jones once he’s ready to hang up the whip and fedora. He replied:
Nobody is going to be Indiana Jones. Don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy!
The tone was playful, but also unmistakably serious. He clearly does not feel that the Indiana Jones films should be messed with, and no one should try to replace him. In fact, he went on to add:
This is a hell of a way to tell Chris Pine this. I’m sorry man!
He’s so funny. It’s so nice to hear how someone really feels about things. And the best part is that he’s still in the game. Disney has scheduled an untitled Indiana Jones 5 for July 9, 2021. Steven Spielberg is set to direct and Ford will be back as Indy.
One thing he does mention in the name “Chris Pine”, which has never been mentioned in regards to Indiana Jones, but I assume he got Chis Pine and Chris Pratt mixed up because Pratt was the actor rumored to be up for a reboot of the franchise at one point.
Are you excited for another Harrison Ford Indiana Jones film? Do you think he should be the only Indy, or should someone else fill his shoes one day down the road?
