Harrison Ford Shares Why He Came Back for INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY

I couldn’t be more excited about watching the fifth and final chapter of Indiana Jones adventure, and the fact that Harrison Ford returned for one more wild archeological ride is amazing. Obviously, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny wouldn’t have been made without him, and we’ve heard time and time again that Indiana Jones will not be replaced or recast.

So what made Ford want to go for one more round as Dr. Jones? Well, it’s a simple answer, really, and in an interview with Variety, he shared that answer saying:

"I always wanted to do it. I wanted to do the rest of the story to see the end of his career. It's the last time for me."

There’s a lot riding on this movie, and I really hope that James Mangold will be able to deliver the perfect ending for Indiana Jones. I have faith that he’ll pull it off! But, at the same time, I know that it’s not an easy task, but there’s a reason that Spielberg trusted him to take the reigns.

The story is set 1969, and Indiana Jones is “living against the backdrop of the space race – but the American effort to beat the Russians to the moon brings with it some uncomfortable truths for Indy.” It’s explained:

“The simple fact is that the moon-landing program was run by a bunch of ex-Nazis. How ‘ex’ they are is the question. And it gets up Indy’s nose… It’s not just that the model of what a hero is has completely changed. It’s not just that they’re looking for something where there’s nothing up there – it’s like Reno without the gambling, or whatever his line is. But the people that are behind it are, you know, his sworn enemies.”

The film comes from producer Steven Spielberg and it also stars Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Shaunette Renée Wilson (The Resident), and Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age Of Ultron).

The film will open in theaters on June 30, 2023. You can watch the previously released trailer for the movie here!
