HARRY POTTER and FARGO Actor David Thewlis to Star in Mystery Drama SHERLOCK & DAUGHTER at The CW
David Thewlis (Harry Potter franchise, Fargo, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, The Sandman, Human Resources) has signed on to star in an upcoming mystery drama at the CW titled Sherlock & Daughter.
With Thewlis as Sherlock Holmes, the series puts the detective out of his comfort zone, mysteriously unable to investigate a sinister case without risking the lives of his closest friends. He then meets Amelia (Blu Hunt), an American who, after her mother’s mysterious murder, learns that Sherlock may be her missing father. Despite wildly different backgrounds and attitudes, the pair must work together to solve a global conspiracy, crack her mother’s murder and find out for sure if she really is Sherlock’s daughter. The cast also includes Dougray Scott as Holmes’ nemesis, Moriarty.
Brendan Foley created Sherlock & Daughter while James Duff showruns.
The news came during the CW’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter 2024 press tour, where the network also announced series orders for new game shows based on Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble.
Also announced at TCA were premiere dates for the network’s spring slate. The CW will debut All American Season 6 as well as FBoy Island spinoff Lovers and Liars on April 1; Walker Season 4 and new drama series Sight Unseen on April 3; new unscripted series Patti Stanger: The Matchmaker on April 11; 100 Days to Indy Season 2 on April 26; and new unscripted series Police 24/7 and Hostage Rescue on April 30.
