HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD Is Coming to Broadway in 2018

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is such a great continuation of the Harry Potter saga. I just recently finished reading the script for the two-part play, and I loved it!

I've been wondering when the stage play would make its way to Broadway, and the New York Times is reporting that it will open there in spring of 2018, so it looks like Potter fans will have to start planning and saving up for a trip to New York!

It's set to show at the Lyric Theater, which is currently occupied by Cirque du Soleil's $25 million show “Paramour.” The theater owner wants to bring The Cursed Child there so bad that they are paying Cirque du Soleil a substantial amount of money to leave. It is said to be an offer they couldn't refuse.

The theater will be completely reimagined to meet the specifications that the producers of The Cursed Child are looking for in a theater. To make sure that they ensure The Cursed Child ends up at the theater, the owners were prepared "to spend millions of dollars to build us a theater within the theater, designed to meet the specifications of what we were looking for — intimate, but big enough so we can have a considerable number of low-priced seats around the house.”

As a fan of the franchise, I'm excited that The Cursed Child is coming to Broadway! I can't wait to see it! Here's the description of the story of the play:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
