HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE Returning to Theatres With 12 Minutes of Bonus Footage
A special event is headed our way, especially for fans of the Harry Potter franchise. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (a.k.a. Philosopher’s Stone) is coming back to theaters for a limited time, and this new run includes 12 minutes of behind-the-scenes bonus footage never seen in the original, debuting on the big screen.
The first installment in the magical film franchise, which turned Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint into global stars and household names, premiered in November 2001. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Warner Bros. has announced a week of screenings and global fan events.
The Chris Columbus-directed film isn’t the only one you can watch on the big screen again. All eight films in the franchise will be rereleased in theaters worldwide from August 27th to September 3rd, but only the first one will feature bonus footage.
Tickets for all screenings go on sale on Harry Potter’s birthday, July 31st. The film screenings are part of the franchise’s “Back to Hogwarts” events, which celebrate the day students return to the fictional school in the fantasy series, September 1st.
Interactive fan events, including a celebratory screening and a mass wand lesson, will take place in cities such as Paris, Venice, Madrid, and Sydney. The theme parks that host the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will also feature special experiences.
HBO is also gearing up to return to Hogwarts, but in the new series that will dive even deeper into the stories than the films were able to. The network is releasing the first season of its series adaptation of Harry Potter on Christmas Day, which will stream globally on HBO Max.
To celebrate the new series, it will lead a one-day fan event with interactive events and giveaways in London, with details to be announced soon.
Digitally, look out for more announcements and surprises on the official Harry Potter YouTube and TikTok accounts on September 1st.
