HARRY POTTER TV Series Set Photos and Video Reveal Harry Potter and Hagrid Together

The magic is starting to take shape. New behind-the-scenes photos and a video have surfaced from the set of HBO’s highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series, giving fans their first real look at Dominic McLaughlin as the Boy Who Lived and Nick Frost as the beloved half-giant Hagrid.

Captured on the streets of Central London, the scene shows Harry and Hagrid heading toward a pub called The Blue Maid. Fans are already speculating that this could be the show's version of the entrance to The Leaky Cauldron, setting the stage for young Harry’s first trip to Diagon Alley.

Frost is decked out in full Hagrid gear, complete with the iconic pink umbrella which, as every fan knows, secretly holds his wand. It’s a fun nod to The Philosopher's Stone.

What's even cooler is how production is bringing the towering Hagrid to life. Frost was seen filming alongside a much larger stand-in wearing a hyper-realistic prosthetic Hagrid head. This clever approach lets the actor handle close-up shots while maintaining Hagrid’s massive size during wide shots.

The decision to turn the Harry Potter saga into a full-length series has gotten some big-name support, including original film director Chris Columbus, who’s excited to see the story retold with more room to breathe.

"Our film was two hours and 40 minutes, and the second one was almost as long," Columbus said. "The fact that they have the leisure of [multiple] episodes for each book, I think that’s fantastic. You can get all the stuff in the series that we didn’t have an opportunity to do all these great scenes that we just couldn’t put in the films. I look forward to seeing what they’re trying to do with it. I think it’s great."

It’s clear that this new adaptation is aiming to stay true to J.K. Rowling’s original world while giving it the room it needs to fully shine. If this first look at Harry and Hagrid is any indication, fans are in for something truly magical.

The cast also includes Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Joining them will be Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley.

Harry Potter's adult cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.

Joining them will be Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander, and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge.
