Hasbro Confirms That Fans Will Not See Baby Yoda Merchandise This Holiday Season

Fans are loving the Disney+ series The Mandalorian about the bounty hunter played by Pedro Pascal, who has been tasked with hunting down a little baby Yoda-like character and turning him over. Pascal’s Mandalorian ends up growing attached to the baby Yoda, and fans can all relate. Baby Yoda is so freaking cute, and wise and powerful and mysterious to boot.

So naturally we all want Baby Yoda merchandise this Christmas and holiday season to give to our favorite Star Wars fans, and to add to our own lists. But unfortunately, the merchandise will not be rolling out until 2020.

In an effort to make sure that the character remained a surprise for fans until the end of the first episode, series creator Jon Favreau told Vanity Fair that “he wanted to hold off on the deluge of consumer products, lest the existence of the Child leak early.”

And while some sources said merchandise from Disney was underway, there has only been a t-shirt officially released. And in that same VF article, they reported, “Toymaker Hasbro confirmed to Vanity Fair that, unfortunately, it would not have any Baby Yoda toys available until 2020, so it will not be in stores in time for the upcoming holidays.”

So there you have it. Nothing official this holiday season. However, many makers have made the most of the situation and have created some adorable baby Yoda gifts for purchase over on Etsy. So if he’s on the top of someone’s wish list, that may be your best bet.
