Hasbro Has Big Plans For DUNGEONS & DRAGONS With More Film, TV, and Video Game Projects

Hasbro is planning out some big things for the epic fantasy franchise Dungeons & Dragons. There’s currently a movie in development with Chris Pine that’s being directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. There’s also a live-action TV series being developed by Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber. But it sounds like this is just the beginning.

While speaking to investors and analysts, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks highlighted Dungeons & Dragons and explained that it’s going to be a huge part of Hasbro's plans in the near future. He said:

"We see a bright future for Dungeons & Dragons. And we only see these opportunities growing over time as we invest in an end-to-end brand blueprint for Dungeons & Dragons, including blockbuster films and streaming TV, AAA video games and a major consumer products push and significant marketing tie-ins."

Cocks also noted the recent purchase of D&D Beyond, which is a digital toolset with over 10 million users, as helping to expand the reach of Dungeons & Dragons in the future.

We will be getting more information on the future of Dungeons & Dragons later this week during the first-ever D&D Direct. This will be a 30-minute video presentation that will reveal new projects and products. The D&D Direct will take place on April 21st at 12 PM ET.

Before I get too excited about the future of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise, I’ll wait and see how this first film and TV show turns out.
