Have a Great Time Being a Member of Starfleet with the Christa McAuliffe Space Center
Unless you live in Utah County, Utah, you’ve probably never heard of the Christa McAuliffe Space Center. Well, the other week I had the pleasure of going for my second time ever, and I was reminded how much fun I had eight years prior. The Space Center is hosted inside the local elementary school in Pleasant Grove, Utah and allows groups of friends and family to pretend to be members of Starfleet from Star Trek and take control of their own starship. There are a few missions that you and your group of friends can do based on how big of a group you’re in.
Before your mission starts, your group will be briefed on the situation, and then you’ll be able to pick a role for each of you including the captain, executive officer, security, and many more. It’s essentially LARPing for Star Trek, and I love every minute of it. If you ever have questions, the staff is always helpful, and while they may not do any of the work for you, they can help direct you in the right direction.
This isn’t just for Star Trek fans though. I have some family members who aren’t into Star Trek and/or roleplaying games and even they left the experience saying they had a blast.
