HAWAII FIVE-O Movie In the Works at Paramount With "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" Director Destin Daniel Cretton On Board

Paramount Pictures is teaming up with Spider-Man: Brand New Day helmer Destin Daniel Cretton to bring a film version of the ‘60s TV series Hawaii Five-O to the big screen.

The Dish reports that Cretton will develop to direct, with Chris Bremner (Bad Boys for Life) to write the script with Noah Oppenheim (Jackie).

Created by Leonard Freeman, the 1968-80 CBS series starred Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett, the no-nonsense lawman who headed a state police task force in Hawaii.

The package was put together by Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady with the estate of series creator Leonard Freeman. He will produce and it went to Paramount first because of the original series and remake done at CBS.

The studio has no further comment at this time, but we will keep you updated on the project as it moves forward.
