HAWKEYE Directors Bert & Bertie to Direct Movie Based on the Disney Parks Attraction BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN RAILROAD

Disney+’s Hawkeye series directors Bert & Bertie have signed back on with Disney to direct a feature film based on the classic Disney Parks attraction Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Kieran and Michele Mulroney (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) are writing the script.

A mine cart ride set in a mining town where gold is discovered, the original Big Thunder Mountain opened in 1979 in Disneyland in Anaheim, with another version opening soon after at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando. It is one of the more recognizable coasters in all of Disney’s parks, also appearing in the Tokyo and Paris locations.

Plot details are unknown at this time, but it’s fun that the Disney attraction movies are branching out to new rides. Because there isn’t any movie or specific lore behind the creation of Big Thunder Mountain, the upcoming film is open to tell a brand new story, and I hope it’s a fun and exciting one!

In the meantime, The Haunted Mansion is getting another reboot with Owen Wilson starring.
