Hawkman and Vandal Savage Cast in CW’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

The CW has cast Falk Hentschel (Reckless, Transcendence) in the role of Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, in their upcoming DC superhero series Legends of Tomorrow. They’ve also cast Danish actor Casper Crump (Tarzan) as the immortal villain Vandal Savage.

Hall is an Egyptian Prince who reincarnates throughout time along with his soulmate, Kendra Saunders, who is played by Ciara Renee in the series. The character accesses his powers through the Hawk God, Horus, which transforms him into the warrior Hawkman. I’ve never been a big fan of Hawkman, but there have been several versions of him in the comics. He also wears a set of wings made of Nth metal, which is a metal that has negative gravity, allowing him to fly.

According to THR, Hentschel will first make an appearance in the crossover episodes of Arrow and The Flash. He will then continues the role in the midseason spinoff Legends of Tomorrow spinoff series, which “centers on Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), a time-traveling rogue who has seen a horrible future and assembles a ragtag team to stop Vandal Savage, an immortal villain causing trouble throughout time.”

In the series, Savage is described as “having spent the past 6,000 years moving like a virulent disease through history, whispering in the ears of despots and dictators, all leading to his eventual domination of the world.”

The series also stars The Flash's Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave) and Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein/one half of Firestorm). Also signed on are Arrow's Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/the Atom and Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson.

Even though I’ve never been a fan of Hawkman, it will still be fun to see him fight alongside all of these other characters. To watch the last trailer that was released for the series, click here
