Hayao Miyazaki Is Why No One Has Adapted NAUSICAA into Live-Action Despite Several Attempts

Studio Ghibli is known for their gorgeous anime movies with deep and compelling stories. Some people apparently wonder why none of these films haven’t been adapted into live-action films and the answer is simple. In a recent conversation with Fuji TV, Toshio Suzuki, co-founder and executive producer at Studio Ghibli, explained that a lot of people have wanted to adapt the famous film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. However, director Hayao Miyazaki has always said no. Even Japanese director Hideaki Anno, the person behind Evangelion and also worked on Nausicaä, has wanted to adapt it and has been turned away.

I wouldn’t expect any Studio Ghibli films to be adapted any time soon, but back in 2013 Miyazaki did say that if anyone were to adapt Nausicaä, it would have to be Anno.

I don't really feel like doing it, but Anno keeps on saying, 'I want to do it! I want to do it!,' so I tell him now that I've come to think lately that if he wanted to do it, it would be fine for him to do it.

Personally, I am of the opinion that we shouldn’t adapt these gorgeous films, but what do you think of the possibilities?
