Hayden Christensen Comments on Reprising His Darth Vader Role in OBI-WAN KENOBI
Last week Lucasfilm announced that Hayden Christensen was officially set to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the upcoming series Obi-Wan Kenobi. He will reunite with Ewan McGregor in the series, and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said, “This will be the rematch of the century.”
Hayden Christensen also opened up for the first time since the news hit to tell StarWars.com:
“It was such an incredible journey playing Anakin Skywalker. Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t on the greatest of terms when we last saw them… It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all. I’m excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back.”
I can’t wait to see Kenobi and Vader meet again in this series, it’s going to be pretty awesome. The series is set 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where “he faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.”
It was previously rumored that the story for the series primarily revolves around Darth Vader’s hunt for his former Master, Obi-Wan. With the casting of Christensen, this could be true. A young Luke Skywalker and Jar-Jar Binks (Ahmed Best) are also rumored to appear on the series in some capacity.
The series is directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed memorable episodes of The Mandalorian Season 1.
