Hayden Christensen Shares His Surreal Experience Of Putting on The Darth Vader Costume in OBI-WAN KENOBI

It’s gonna be pretty wild seeing Hayden Christensen back in the role of Darth Vader in Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series after all these years. I’m also looking forward to seeing Vader and Obi-Wan face off with each other for the first time! This series will be the first time that Obi-Wan sees Anakin Skywalker as Darth Vader and there’s no doubt it will be a jarring experience for him.

It’s been 17 years since Christensen first put on Darth Vader’s suit, and in a recent interview with On Demand Entertainment, the actor shared his experience of putting on the suit again after all these years:

"It was surreal. It's an incredible costume, and putting it back on again brought up a lot of emotions for me. It's amazing to get to wear it, it's an honor to put it on. Just a lot of fun, really."

He went on to talk about the challenges of wearing the costume, saying it’s "incredibly heavy. It's a beast to wear, and not designed for bathroom breaks. But it comes with the job." He then went on to talk about his excitement for the show, saying:

"I'm excited. It's a pleasure to be back, and I'm very proud of the series and looking forward to the fans getting to see it. So getting to come back and do more with him as these characters was just incredible.

When talking about reuniting with Ewan McGregor, he said:

"I love the man dearly. We became really close when we were doing the prequels, and just had so much fun together. We had a bit of a catch-up before we started filming, and it's been really nice to reconnect with my old friend."

Obi-Wan Kenobi begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

The series also Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, and Joby Harold.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will drop on Disney+ on May 25th!
