Hayden Panettiere Teases Kirby's Return in SCREAM 6; Says She Reached Out For The Opportunity

It’s been a few years since Hayden Panettiere has been in the spotlight for any projects, then all of a sudden it was announced that she would be reprising her role as Kirby in Scream 6! That certainly caught the attention of fans and got them excited!

It turns out that over the past few years Panettiere has been on a long road of recovery due to drug and alcohol addiction. She recently did an interview with Good Morning America and opened up about what she’s been going through, which all started when she was a young actress working in Hollywood.

During that interview, she excitedly talked about playing Kirby again in Scream 6, and it turns out that she actually reached out to the filmmakers and producers for the opportunity to come back. She said:

“I called them up myself and was like, ‘So, you guys don’t happen to want to bring Kirby back, do you?’ I wanted to be in it that badly.”

Scream 6 will kind of be her big come back movie as an actress after she took a step back to work on herself. She was then asked if Kirby will make it past the opening kill in Scream 6, Panettiere teased: “I don’t think anyone’s going to be disappointed.”

She’s obviously not going to spill any of the big details! What we do know is that the film will continue the story of the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.

The movie also stars Melissa Barrera as Sam, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy, Mason Gooding as Chad, Jenna Ortega as Tara, and Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding, Insidious Chapter 3, Zodiac). Courteney Cox is also coming back. New young cast members include Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water), Liana Liberato (The Beach House), Devyn Nekoda (Ghostwriter), and Josh Segarra (Arrow). Henry Czerny (Ready or Not) also recently joined the cast.

The movie is being developed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready or Not) with James Vanderbilt (Scream, Murder Mystery) and Guy Busick (Scream, Ready or Not) co-writing the screenplay.

Scream 6 will bleed into theaters on March 31, 2023. I’ve always liked Panettiere. When she made her big debut in Remember The Titans, I knew she was going to be a successful actress. It sucks to hear what she has been going through, but great to see that she worked her way through it, is doing well, and is ready to get back to doing what she loves.
