Hayley Atwell Explains What AGENT CARTER Season 3 Would Have Explored
At this point, I don't think we'll ever see the return of Peggy Carter. I think Marvel is done with her character in the MCU. As awesome as the Peggy Carter series was, for some reason they decided it wasn't worth pursuing any longer. I think the series would have gotten even better over time. Then there's the fact that the series ended on a cliffhanger, which sucked!
Actress Hayley Atwell recently appeared at the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in London, and during a panel she talked about Season 3 and what it would have explored. Movie Pilot has the details on what she talked about, saying:
As Hayley Atwell noted, Season 2 fleshed out the character of Agent Carter in some fascinating ways. We learned about Agent Carter's late brother, and saw how he had transformed her life; indeed, Atwell seems to think that was setup for a bigger arc, one exploring the impact his ghost has on Carter. In fact, Atwell spoke about how she felt Season 3 could have lifted the lid on Agent Carter a little bit more, giving a chance for viewers to understand how her English upbringing had shaped her.
One of the things I loved about this show most was the fact that it did a great job developing its characters, especially Carter. I already loved how she was handled in the films, and this series just made me fall in love with her even more. The site goes on to explain:
In Atwell's view, Season 3 would have continued to develop Carter's relationship with the Jarvis family. She saw the relationship between Agent Carter and Jarvis as one of the most interesting aspects of Season 2, with each respecting one another, but also knowing exactly how to push each other's buttons. Atwell told the audience at #HVFF that this is one aspect she'd particularly have loved to explore in Agent Carter Season 3.
It's a shame that we'll never see any of this explored. If Marvel ever did decide to resurrect the series, Atwell would jump at the opportunity. She describes the role of Agent Carter as "the gift that keeps on giving." The fans would definitely love to see it happen, and I know some are still holding our hope, but at this point, I don't think it's ever coming back. If it does it would be a complete surprise to me!
