Hayley Atwell Talks About AGENT CARTER's 10-Episode Second Season

As the old TV show title said, eight is enough — but not if you're a fan of Marvel's TV shows. Agent Carter had an eight episode first season, and though the show's future was in question for a little while, the fans who faithfully tuned in were clamoring for more. But a couple of weeks ago, ABC officially renewed it for a second season, and at Houston's Comicpalooza, star Hayley Atwell revealed that eight is NOT enough: the network has asked for ten episodes this time.

The show runners really want to move it forward, so it’s going to be set in LA and with 10 episodes it’s going to be a very glamorous, dark world of 1940s Los Angeles.

But what will the tone be for Peggy in season 2?

What was very exciting is, in a second season she’s grieved over Steve and she’s now about to embark on a new adventure in her life. So she’s in a much better place, so in terms of where she is it’s going to be a lot lighter for her, there’s going to be more humor to her and more warmth. She’s not struggling so much with her identity.

I know fans will be excited to hear about being able to dive into Peggy's world for a couple more episodes, and it sounds like the character won't be quite as weighed down as she was the last time we saw her. And that new L.A. setting will drop her right into classic film noir territory, so that should be fun to watch. Here's the official synopsis for season 2:

Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.
