HBO Boss Confirms 2024 Production Start for GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS
HBO Boss Casey Bloys gave a recent rundown of the biggest shows the network is looking to work on this year, including new seasons of The Last of Us and The White Lotus, as well as a new Game of Thrones prequel series, thanks to the success of another spinoff, House of the Dragon. This new series, titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, takes place a century before the flagship series, and it’s based on author George R.R. Martin’s “Dunk and Egg” books, where we find Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire, Egg, wandering through Westeros while the Targaryen dynasty rules the Iron Throne and dragons are still remembered, and great destinies and enemies await the incomparable friends.
It was previously announced that the show was eyeing a spring 2024 potential start for filming, and Bloys confirmed to The Wrap that the show remains on track to start filming this year, but noted that casting and writing is still in progress. As for other spinoffs related to Game of Thrones, he reiterated that nothing else has been officially greenlit but that there are a lot of projects in development.
Bloys explained:
“I think with a show like this, when somebody reads that something is in development, there becomes an expectation that that is being shot, which is not the case. So right now the only two things that are greenlit are ‘House of the Dragon,’ obviously, and ‘The Hedge Night.’ There are a lot of other projects in development but I don’t have anything imminent to report.”
