HBO Has Released an Intense Teaser Trailer for Their CHERNOBYL Miniseries
HBO has a five-part miniseries coming out this summer called Chernobyl, and it will dramatize the story of the most famous and tragic nuclear meltdown disaster in history.
The series has brought together a great cast to tell this story and that cast includes Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, and Emily Watson.
On April 26th, 1986, there was an explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, Soviet Union, and that explosion caused the released of radioactive material across Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine and as far as Scandinavia and western Europe. Chernobyl dramatizes this story of “one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history — and the sacrifices made to save Europe from unimaginable disaster.”
It will deal with the event itself and what happened afterwards. While there’s not a lot of footage shown, there’s enough that will spark people’s interest.
Harris (Mad Men, The Crown) will star as Valery Legasov, the Soviet scientist chosen by the Kremlin to investigate the accident, while Skarsgård (Melancholia, Good Will Hunting) will play Boris Shcherbina, the man responsible for leading the USSR government commission in the wake of the disaster. Watson (Genius, The Theory of Everything) will portray scientist Ulana Khomyuk, who was tasked with getting to the bottom of the deadly accident.
The rest of the cast includes Sam Troughton (The Ritual), Adam Nagaitis (The Terror), Ralph Ineson (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Mark Lewis Jones (Star Wars Episode VIII), Fares Fares (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Westworld), and David Densik (McMafia.)
The miniseries was written and executive produced by Craig Mazin (The Hangover), and it was directed by Johan Renck (Breaking Bad).
Chernobyl is set to premiere on May 6th, 2019 on HBO.
