HBO Is Developing a Reboot of TRUE BLOOD
For those of you who enjoyed HBO’s southern-set vampire series, True Blood, you might be happy or disappointed to learn that HBO is developing a reboot of the series.
The reboot is being written and executive produced by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Jami O’Brien (NOS4A2), and original series creator and showrunner Alan Ball is also attached to executive produce.
As of right now, none of the show’s original cast is attached to return. We don’t know if this reboot will bring back any of the original characters and continue the story, or if it will tell a new and different story with new characters. There aren’t a lot of details to share, but it will be interesting to see what this ends up being.
I’d be more interested in this if the True Blood project was more of a revival that brings back some original characters than a reboot.
True Blood is based on “The Southern Vampire Mysteries” novel series by Charlaine Harris. The series originally debuted on HBO in 2008 and ran for seven seasons. The story was set in “a world in which vampires live among humans after the creation of a synthetic blood substitute that allowed vampires to stop hunting humans for food. There were also a myriad of other fantasy creatures in the show, including werewolves and witches.”
The original series starred Anna Paquin, Alexander Skarsgård, Joe Manganiello, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, and Rutina Wesley.
What are your thoughts on HBO rebooting True Blood? What would you like to see from it?
