HBO Is Developing a Scripted Series About Elon Musk's SpaceX
HBO is developing a scripted series that will tell the story of Elon Musk’s space exploration company SpaceX. The series will be titled SpaceX, and it will be a limited six-episode series based on the book Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future written by Ashlee Vance.
The series will explore how Musk, “in pursuit of his lifelong dream to make humankind a multi-planetary species, handpicks a team of engineers to work on a remote Pacific Island where they build, and launch, the first SpaceX rocket into orbit. It spurred a new era of privately funded space exploration, culminating in the first manned Space X launch of the Falcon 9 on May 30, 2020.”
Doug Jung (Star Trek Beyond, The Cloverfield Paradox, Mindhunter) is attached to write the series, and Channing Tatum has jumped on board as an executive producer.
Musk is not attached to the series, but there’s a chance that he may eventually come on board in some capacity. In addition to his work with SpaceX, he is also known for building the electric vehicle and clean energy company, Tesla. Through his various enterprises, Musk’s net worth is estimated to be close to $100 billion.
Elon Musk has accomplished some incredible things, and I’m sure he will continue to do so. I know not everyone really cares for Musk, but the guy is doing things that he hopes will change the world for the better. It’ll be interesting to see a series that tells the story of he got SpaceX up and running.
