HBO is Developing a SIX FEET UNDER Follow-Up Series, But What's The Point?

HBO’s Six Feet Under is one of my all-time favorite shows. I’ve been singing its praises ever since I watched it and the series includes one of the best endings ever for a series. I loved the ending! But, for some strange reason HBO is in early development on a follow-up series.

There is no writer attached to the series, there’s no plot line, we don’t know if it will be a sequel series or if it will follow some of the characters in the present day. All we know at this point is that it’s in development and original series creator Alan Ball and executive producers Bob Greenblatt and David Janollari are all attached to executive produce the new project.

The show followed the lives of the Fisher family and their associates in the running of a funeral home in Los Angeles. it was weird and quirky but I loved that about it. I especially enjoyed the characters and the their stories.

I don’t know, obviously Ball has a vision for continuing the show, but I just don’t know what that looks like. It could follow any number of characters including Michael C. Hall’s David, Lauren Ambrose’s Claire, Freddy Rodriguez’s Rico, or others. Maybe even all of them? Now, the series already killed off every character in the season finale, but there is still room to play with them, because most of the deaths happened in the future.

I just thought the original series was so beautifully told and the ending for it was brilliant. Why mess all that up with a follow-up series? In my opinion, they should just leave it alone. What do you all think?
