HBO Max is Developing a Series Adaptation of The Sci-Fi Novel SNOW CRASH with Director Joe Cornish
HBO Max is producing a series adaptation of Neal Stephenson’s sci-fi novel Snow Crash. The show is being developed by Attack The Block and The Kid Who Would Be King director Joe Cornish and the writer of Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Michael Bacall.
Snow Crash tells an awesomely insane story that revolves around Hiro Protagonist, in reality, Hiro “delivers pizza for Uncle Enzo’s CosaNostra Pizza, Inc., but in the Metaverse he’s a warrior prince. Plunging headlong into the enigma of a new computer virus that’s striking down hackers everywhere, he races along the neon-lit streets on a search-and-destroy mission for the shadowy virtual villain threatening to bring about infocalypse.”
The story is described as a “mind-altering romp through a future America so bizarre, so outrageous…you’ll recognize it immediately.” This is going to make a hell of a series, especially with Joe Cornish at the helm. He’s made some super cool and fun flicks, and this project is a perfect fit for him.
Bacall will also serve as co-showrunner with Angela Robinson (The L Word), with Frank Marshall producing. This is a series that I’m excited about seeing get made!
