HBO Max Orders Limited Series DMZ From Ava DuVernay and WESTWORLD Writer Roberto Patino
HBO Max has placed an order on the four-part limited series DMZ from Ava DuVernay. The series is written by Roberto Patino (Westworld), and is based on the DC comic written by Brian Wood. The series stars Rosario Dawson and Benjamin Bratt.
DMZ “is set in the near future when America is embroiled in a bitter civil war, which has left Manhattan a demilitarized zone (DMZ), destroyed and isolated from the rest of the world. It chronicles the harrowing journey of fearless and fierce medic Alma Ortega (Dawson), who sets out on a harrowing journey to find the son she lost in the evacuation of New York City at the onset of the conflict. Throwing gasoline on the flames of that conflict is Parco Delgado (Bratt), the popular — and deadly — leader of one of the most powerful gangs in the DMZ. He wants to rule this new world — and will stop at nothing to secure that outcome.”
Dawson and Bratt are joined in the cast by Hoon Lee, Freddy Miyares, and Jordan Preston Carter. Patino is set to write all four episodes, serve as showrunner, and executive produce alongside DuVernay, who directed the pilot. Production on the remaining episodes of the series is slated to begin in 2021. Are you looking forward to this adaptation?
