HBO Orders GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series and it Will Be Set a Thousand Years Before the Event's of GOT

As you know, there have been several different series' in development at HBO for the Game of Thrones franchise and the cable network has just ordered one! They are moving forward with a pilot episode for the untitled series that was created by Jane Goldman (Kick-AssKingsman: The Secret Service) and George R.R. Martin.

The series may not have a title, but thanks to THR we do have some intriguing details to share with you!

Set thousands of years before the events of Thrones, the project chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. A logline from the network teased the plot wihtout divulging any specifics: "Only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it's not the story we think we know."

This is freakin' exciting! I imagine that fans of the series and the books are going to love this! There's so much to play within the history of this fantasy world of Westeros and it's going to be so cool to see what exactly they end up creating for us!

Goldman, who wrote the script, will also serve as the showrunner. Remember, this is just one of several other potential series that will be set in the world of Westeros. Those other shows are being developed by Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Brian Helgeland (Legend), Carly Wray (Westworld), and Thrones veteran Bryan Cogman

Game of Thrones creators and showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are not involved with these other series. They are currently focused on developing the final season of Game of Thrones.

What do you think of the setting for the upcoming series!? Are you excited about the direction they are looking to take it?
