HBO Renews Docuseries THE VOW About NXIVM Sex Cult for a Second Season

HBO has just finished the first season of the docuseries The Vow, which chronicled the experiences of some of the longtime high-ranking members of the NXIVM cult, who were some of the first to leave. The handful of ex-members who told their stories were friends and spouses who had slowly become disenchanted with the organization as red flags came into view, namely the branding of a handful of women members and the sex trafficking which came to light later on.

The first season was fascinating, and similar to season one of the podcast Uncover: Escaping NXIVM, so I believed it would follow suit and only be a limited doc with one season. But HBO has revealed that the docuseries will be back for a second season. The first season had interviews with actress Catherine Oxenberg, who was desperately trying to get her daughter India to leave the organization after finding out what was happening from those who were leaving. The second season will see India outside of the cult, and she will talk for the first time about her experience.

I’m glad to see the show come back. It will be interesting to hear more accounts from within the cult, and hear the successes of the victims who were able to leave. Check out Season 1 of the series now on HBO, and let us know if you’re excited for Season 2.
