HBO's '70s Rock Series VINYL Cancelled

HBO has decided they will not be moving forward with the second season of their new series Vinyl after all, Variety reported today. The show was initially renewed for a second season shortly after its premiere, but it appears that decision has been nixed after replacing Terence Winter as showrunner.

Ultimately the decision came down to money, and the budget for revamping the show in its second season was too high for HBO execs' likings. To be fair, I'm sure the show already had a huge budget recreating New York City to its '70s glory, paying for Winter to be the showrunner, and all the music licensing and likeness fees that had to be shelled out.

I liked the show, but the two-hour premiere was far too long for my friends and wife who tried to watch alongside me. It's a shame because I was really looking for Ray Romano to get a win and he was awesome in that show! Hopefully HBO does right by him.
