HBO's CHERNOBYL Footage Compared with Actual Documentary Footage From the 1986 Disaster
If you haven’t seen the HBO miniseries Chernobyl yet, it needs to be put on the top of your list of things to watch. It’s an incredible and horrifying series and is easily one of the best shows that I’ve seen this year. It just blew me away.
I’ve got something here for you that is definitely worth watching. It’s a video that was created by Thomas Flight and it gives us a side-by-side look at the footage from the series and actual documentary footage from the tragic 1986 disaster.
It’s pretty incredible and insightful, and if you know what is really going on in this footage you are seeing, you can’t help but feel sad for the people who were forced into these situations. You’ll also see that the creator of the series, Craig Mazin, and the rest of the talent involved with the show did a stunning job bringing this story to life. They paid attention to the details and made sure the series was as close to being as real as they could get.
“It’s an interesting acknowledgment by the creators of the show of the way the meta-discussion and the experience of watching a show about true events is important to the story. And being transparent and talking about these things and the process of adapting reality to the narrative is commendable. it sets an interesting new standard for films and TV of this genre.”
