He-Man and Skeletor Clash in Action-Packed New TV Spot for MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE
Masters of the Universe is charging full speed toward theaters, and Amazon MGM Studios has unleashed a new 30-second TV spot that leans hard into the fantasy chaos.
Swords swing, muscles flex, and Skeletor looks ready to tear the universe apart. If there were any doubts about this reboot having teeth, this footage helps squash them fast.
This new spot arrives on the heels of the first official trailer and continues to sell director Travis Knight’s vision for bringing the iconic Mattel franchise back where it belongs, on the big screen.
The original Masters of the Universe toys ruled the ‘80s, spun off into the awesome animated series, and eventually landed a live-action film in 1987 with Dolph Lundgren. Now the property is getting a full-scale modern reboot that still remembers exactly what made it fun in the first place.
The story centers on Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, who’s been separated from the Sword of Power for 15 years. When destiny pulls him back to Eternia, he finds his home world in ruins under the iron grip of Skeletor.
Reuniting with Teela and Duncan, also known as Man-At-Arms, Adam has to accept who he really is and become He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. The TV spot zeroes in on that conflict, teasing massive battles and a very personal war between hero and villain.
Knight has been clear that this version of Masters of the Universe isn’t trying to sand off the franchise’s personality. In fact, he’s leaning into it.
“There’s an inherent silliness to it, which we are acknowledging and embracing. I think it’s a virtue, actually. And it’s woven into the script to help some of these things make sense to a modern audience. Like, why would that character have that stupid name? Well, over the course of the movie we show you why.”
That attitude feels baked into this new footage. The world looks big, strange, and unapologetically over-the-top, but it’s grounded by character and conflict.
The film also digs deeper into Adam’s origins. As a ten-year-old, Adam Glenn crash-lands on Earth, separated from his ancestral Power Sword of Grayskull. Two decades later, reclaiming that sword means reclaiming his legacy and stepping into a war that’s been waiting for him his entire life.
Alongside Galitzine, the film stars Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Kristen Wiig as Roboto, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms.
Knight, who previously directed Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee, is working from a screenplay by Chris Butler along with Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham.
With this new TV spot in the wild, Masters of the Universe is shaping up to be a big, muscular fantasy throwback with modern polish. If the final film delivers on what these previews are teasing, He-Man and Skeletor are going to have an epic big-screen showdown.
The film hits theaters worldwide on June 5th, 2026.
